As far as research is concerned, since its creation, the Foundation has promoted activities concerned with scientific research, primordially those projects that entail the greatest positive impact on improving people’s lives.
Such activities include:
- Contributions made to the construction of the Applied Medical Research Wing (CIMA) at the University of Navarre.
- Contributions made to the Hospital Clinic de Barcelona Foundation and its campus.
- Contributions to the San Carlos Clinical Hospital in Madrid, notably the donation of the Da Vinci robot, with which over one thousand surgical operations have been performed to date.
- Collaboration in the PRO-VITA Tactile Vision project at the Complutense University of Madrid.
However, the most significant of all such actions is the construction and outfitting of the Esther Koplowitz Biomedical Research Centre, in whichover 350 scientists carry out research into various diseases, such as cancer, auto-immunological and neurodegenerative disorders, and which has become an institution of reference within the sector in Europe.
