Esther Koplowitz has been awarded with the distinction of Honorary Citizen by the Valencia City Council
The Valencia City Council has awarded Esther Koplowitz with the distinction of Honorary Citizen, the highest award given by the city, which seeks to gratefully acknowledge the work of the Help the Helpless Foundation. The organisation has built and financed the La Nostra Casa residential home and day-care centre in Vall de la Ballestera, to look after and attend to people with severe mental disabilities or other physical and sensorial disabilities and disorders. The award was received by her daughter, Esther Alcocer, from the Mayoress of Valencia, who highlighted the work undertaken by Esther Koplowitz, promoter and president of the Foundation.
The Help the Helpless Foundation received co-operation from the City to carry out the project in the form of the plot of land on which the residential home stands and houses 60 residents as well as a further 40 people in the day-care centre. Total capital outlay for the project reached 6.8 million euros.
